The sustainability of one of Maine’s iconic creatures is explored in Lobstah Bake. Maine’s lobster fishery is the most valuable fishery in the country with the annual catch valued at more than $550 million. This boom may be unsustainable as the Gulf of Maine is warming at nearly twice the rate of other marine bodies of water. The rise in temperature may be the reason lobsters are moving northward at about four miles a year. The relationship between temperature and pounds of lobster caught annually is has been upended and fashioned into a pair of lobster trap lines.
