VERY EXCITED to announce that my artwork Who’s the Killer? was selected by the jury for Gallerium’s 6th annual juried international exhibition entitled Extinction: Save the Planet – 2026. Fewer than 17% of globally submitted work reached this stage. Take a look at more of my artwork that is published on this website.
The 2026 application for FOFFOS funding is now available at foffos.org. Check out the application. It is relatively short and straightforward. Open to all 501(c)(3) organizations actively working in areas of marine stewardship.
Wo(men) Mind the Water Artivist Series podcasts feature inspirational individuals who share their passion for the ocean. They are artivists (artists and activists, in other words creative people) who discuss their connection with the ocean and their ocean-inspired art. Through their stories and art, we hope to inspire YOU and move YOU to take action to protect the ocean. Wo(men) Mind the Water podcast has published more than a 100th episodes. Video versions are available on the Wo(men)Mind the Water website, and audio-only versions can be heard on this website, Spotify and on iTunes.
The Wo(men) Mind the Water Artivist Series features artivists from across the globe speaking about their ocean-inspired art and work. The newest episode features Maya van Rossum, the Delaware Riverkeeper and founder of Green Amendments for the Generations. Maya is also a lawyer who has devoted her energies to the Green Amendment, a constitutional amendment that ensures our rights to a healthy environment are enshrined in a state's constitution.

Who is Wo(men) Mind the Water?
Women are influenced by the tides that flow within them. This is why Wo(men) Mind the Water explores the connection between women and water using storytelling. Our brand of storytelling conveys both a passion for the ocean and the artful way women express this. Wo(men) Mind the Water founder Pam Ferris-Olson is an experienced storyteller working as an educator, writer, photographer, videographer and podcaster. She examines the human relationship with the ocean through digital stories and a Wo(men) Mind the Water podcast. Pam collaborates with others to share their stories reflecting on how the ocean inspires them.

My recent article titled Lab-Grown Sunflower Sea Stars Offer Hope for Vanishing Marine Ecosystems was published on May 26, 2026 on Earth.org. The article explores the devastating event that occurred along the west coast of North America in 2013. It wiped out nearly all of the area’s sunflower sea stars, with devastating consequences for kelp forests. A consortium of public and private organizations has been uapplying aquacultural techniques to grow sea stars in laboratory settings. The expectation is that these efforts will lead to the eventual recovery of healthy kelp ecosystems and concomitant biodiversity. Read the article on Earth.org here.
